Would masturbation be unacceptable between a husband and wife as a part of sexual intercourse?

Question:

Hi,

My husband and I have been married for a year now and really love God.  I just wanted to find out what type of sex is acceptable in a marriage? Would masturbation be unacceptable in God's eyes even if it was done during sexual intercourse?

Hope to hear from you soon! I want to say that your web site is very helpful.

Answer:

Technically, masturbation is when a person touches themselves sexually. When it is done between a husband and wife, then it is a part of foreplay and sex. There is nothing wrong with sexual touching between married partners. It is supposed to take place. "Now concerning the things of which you wrote to me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband" (I Corinthians 7:1-3). Also, "Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth. As a loving deer and a graceful doe, let her breasts satisfy you at all times; and always be enraptured with her love" (Proverbs 5:18-19).

You will find that since a wife takes longer to reach orgasm than the husband that many books discussing sexual techniques in marriage recommend that the husband use sexual touch to stimulate his wife both before and after his own orgasm to increase her enjoyment.
