Proof the Book of Mormon Is Not True
The Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible and was a work of fiction written by Joseph Smith in the 1800s, who copied much of it from the King James Version, trying to make it look like an ancient manuscript. Here is proof that the Book of Mormon isn’t true:
Proof that Joseph Smith Copied out of the King James Version
Helaman 12:25-25 says, "we read..." and then it quotes John 5:29. Helaman was supposedly written in 6 BC, according to the date given in the Book of Mormon. The Book of John was written nearly 100 years after 6 BC. How could Helaman quote John before it was written and even use the King James Version to do it? Obviously, someone living after the 1611 King James Version was written had to write Helaman. (It was Joseph Smith.)
The Book of Mormon sounds biblical because some 27,000 words are copied directly from the King James Bible. Hundreds of verses are copied verbatim. II Nephi, chapters 12-24 are copied from Isaiah 2-14, III Nephi 24 & 25 are copied from Malachi 3-4, and I Nephi 20-21 are copied from Isaiah 48-49 except for a few additions in the Book of Mormon.
Even the italicized words from the King James Version are copied. The italicized words in the King James Version were not in the original text but were added by the translators to clarify thought. The King James Version was completed in 1611 AD, and the Book of Mormon was published in 1830. This is indisputable proof that the Book of Mormon was written after 1611 and not many centuries before.
Proof that Joseph Smith Fabricated the Book of Mormon
The French word "adieu" closes the Book of Jacob (Jacob 7:27). The Book of Mormon supposedly dates Jacob between 544 and 421 BC. The French language didn't even exist until around 700 AD. Joseph Smith lived in the 1800s and included the French word when he made up the Book of Mormon. This proves the book was written after 700 AD and is a false document.
Joseph Smith Got Confused and Made a Mistake
Alma 13:1 says, "And again my brethren, I would cite your minds forward to the time when the Lord God gave these commandments." Was this time past or future? Joseph Smith, who fabricated the Book of Mormon, made a mistake here because he lived in the 1800s and got confused about the tenses.
Joseph Smith Forgot to Check the Map
According to I Nephi 2:5-8, the River Laman emptied into the Red Sea. However, there are no rivers in Arabia, and no river empties into the Red Sea. Joseph Smith didn't know this when he wrote the Book of Mormon. This is another proof Joseph Smith made this up.
How Could They Use Things Before They Were Invented?
The Book of Mormon speaks of “steel” (Ether 7:8,9, 1 Nephi 4:9) and breakable “glass” windows (2:23) back in Abraham's time. Neither had been invented at that time. This is another proof that Joseph Smith was thinking about his day when he wrote the Book of Mormon.
No Archeological Evidence for the Book of Mormon
“The whole face of the land had become covered with buildings” (Mormon 1:7). “Two million Jaredites slain” (Ether 15:2) 38 cities are cataloged in the Book of Mormon, along with iron, steel, brass, coins, swords, breast-plates, shields, armor, or chariots. Yet, not one item mentioned in the Book of Mormon has ever been discovered in America.
Make a Hole in the Bottom of the Boat to Get Air?
In Ether 2:16-3:6, the Lord instructs Jared’s brother to build eight barges. God tells Jared’s brother to “make a hole in the top, and also in the bottom; and when thou shalt suffer for air thou shalt unstop the hole and receive air.”
The Only Perfect Translation?
The Book of Mormon claims to be a perfect translation because Joseph Smith supposedly used Crystal Glasses to get the perfect word-for-word translation, yet there have been over 4,000 changes in the Book of Mormon since the first edition came out.
How Could Animals Be in America Before They Were Brought Here?
The Book of Mormon speaks of sheep, swine, horses, and elephants — even though Europeans didn’t bring them to America until centuries later in post-Columbian times. Again, we see that Joseph Smith was thinking about animals in his current day as he was fabricating the Book of Mormon.
The Book of Mormon Contradicts the Bible
- According to Alma 7:10, Jesus Christ was to be born in Jerusalem. The Bible says He was born at Bethlehem (Micah 5:2, Luke 2:4).
- Helaman 14:20, 27 says darkness covered the whole earth for three days at Jesus' death. Matthew 27:45, Mark 15:33, and Luke 23:44 say three hours.
- According to Alma 46:15, believers are called Christians in 73 BC. Why is this wrong? Jesus hadn’t come yet! Acts 11:26 says they were first called Christians at Antioch (42 AD).
- Moroni 10:19,21 says that spiritual gifts will never pass away. I Corinthians 13:8-10 says the spiritual gifts will pass away.
