To get money, I lied to a man that I’m pregnant with his child

Question:

I searched about God and found this site. I am depressed and wondering what I should do. I just need prayers. I just finished college and because I haven't gotten a job, I met this man who is 60 years old. He started providing for me. He is married to two wives, and he wanted to marry me as his third wife because he is rich. Unfortunately, he insisted that I first get pregnant before he would start paying my bills, so because I didn't have any other options, I lied to say that I am pregnant. After four months I suspected he might realize that I am not pregnant, so I ran away with everything he had bought me. I told him my parents can't accept a marriage to an old polygamous man. Now he thinks I am eight months pregnant. He sends me money, even though I am not pregnant, but I need the money to pay my bills. I've applied for jobs, but I haven't been lucky yet. I don't want this life of lying to him anymore, but I don't have a job. What can I do? I need you to pray for me, please.

Answer:

You committed adultery with a married man who is already in an adulterous relationship with two women, you lied, and you are stealing money. But you want God to somehow intervene in the mess that you've created with your sins -- sins that you don't plan to stop right now because it isn't convenient.

If you are going to ask God for help, you need to live by God's laws. "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear" (Isaiah 59:1-2). If necessary, move back in with your parents or another relative until you can find a job. Stop accepting money from this man and tell him the truth that you are not pregnant. Offer to repay the money he sent after you have a job. Stop having sex with men when you are not married. Then, perhaps, God will listen to your prayers.
