Is a person responsible for the lies an aunt may have made when she was three?

Question:

Hi,

A person immigrated to this country over thirty years ago as a child (age 3).  The aunt of the person might have told immigration that the child was her natural child instead of revealing that the child had been adopted.  Is the child responsible to God for this matter or is it just the aunt who needs to repent?

Answer:

One person is not held accountable for what another person did. "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself" (Ezekiel 18:20). A child is certainly not responsible for any lies an adult might have said.

Response:

Thank you so much for your quick reply. Be blessed in the Lord Jesus!
