What can a wife do to improve her marriage?

Question:

I have been asked to do a drama for the ladies! I have been researching your web site. I have read your notes on Solomonthe glue in a marriage, and lots of other things. Could I ask you to please give me some more information on how men truly desire to be treated in marriage? To be specific, in our country's culture women don't really feel a need to meet the personal needs of their husbands, only to serve! So food is the biggest deal. Men can't serve food for themselves, the wife has to; otherwise, she is considered unsubmissive. Ladies teach all this to the younger woman, but they always talk bad about their husbands and actually are all so miserable. Please what other links can I go to or what other information could you share with me?

Much thanks God bless.

Answer:

If there is one thing I hear most often from husbands who are having marital problems, it is "My wife doesn't show me any respect!" Men are driven by a need to be needed. See Respect.

Instead of having complaint sessions, try talking about what you admire most in your husbands and strategize how to best encourage husbands to bring out the best in them. A wife should aim to encourage her husband with positive reasons to be a better man, if for no other reason than she knows she will have a better life as a result. "An excellent wife is the crown of her husband, But she who shames him is like rottenness in his bones" (Proverbs 12:4).
