Twisting the Scriptures: The Homosexual Agenda

by Jefferson David Tant

In the push to legalize same-sex marriages and make homosexual practice on the same level as to whether I prefer a blue or black necktie, some bizarre efforts are made to evade the clear Scripture teaching.

One such effort is the publication of “The Queen James Bible.” This is published by homosexuals, featuring a white cover with a multicolored cross. They claim that King James, who authorized the King James translation in 1611, was a homosexual, and royal court members referred to him as “Queen James.”

No, they haven’t removed the passages condemning homosexuality, they just reinterpret them. When God said, “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22), they claim this only condemned practices that were a part of idol worship.

We know that sexual perversion was a part of idolatry. Even before Moses, Job 36:14 reads: “They die in youth, And their life perishes among the cult prostitutes.” “Cult prostitutes” is from the Hebrew “qadesh,” which Strong’s defines as “a (quasi) sacred person, i.e. (technically) a (male) devotee (by prostitution) to licentious idolatry:-- sodomite, unclean.” The word “sodomite” comes from Sodom’s destruction due to their homosexuality.

A thought on Job is a possible connection to Romans 1:26-27: “For this reason God gave over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error” (NASB). The MKJV ends with “the recompense which was fitting for their error.”

There seems to be a connection between “they die in youth” in Job and the penalty which was “fitting for their error” in Romans. In general, practicing homosexuals do not live to old age. They typically die younger. Is it possible that AIDS and like diseases are God’s special judgment upon homosexuals?

But the homosexuals’ obvious “twist” in Romans where Paul enumerates the Gentiles’ sins when they make Romans 1:24-27 refer only to idolatrous homosexuality. But Paul goes on in Romans 1:29-31 to condemn “being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful…” I was not aware that only idolatrous homosexuals were guilty of these things. But they pick out one reference and isolate it from the context of all the other sins listed.

Another bizarre twist was a sign in front of St. John's Anglican Church in Ontario, Canada, which read “Jesus had two dads and he turned out just fine.” Obviously, they didn’t suggest that God the Father and Joseph were Jesus’ homosexual parents, but in their perverted logic, they tried to justify the thought that having homosexual parents was just fine. The truth is, scientific research has confirmed that having a normal set of parents is a healthier environment for raising children. After all, as the old saying goes, “God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.”

Peter mentioned what Paul had written, “…which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction” (II Peter 3:16). This idea of twisting what is right to make it say something else isn’t new. Micah said: “Now hear this, heads of the house of Jacob And rulers of the house of Israel, Who abhor justice And twist everything that is straight” (Micah 3:9).

Today’s culture is swiftly turning against those whose convictions are based on the Bible. In some nations is it a crime to speak against homosexuality, and efforts are being made in the United States to make such a “hate crime”. Court cases have been won against businesses that politely refused to cater to homosexual weddings. A bakery and a photographer have been penalized for declining to participate. These are but two examples of a growing trend. Military chaplains have been punished when they, for conscience sake, have not blessed homosexual activities in the ranks. Those who cry for tolerance are often the least tolerant. It is amazing that 3% of the population has so much influence.

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20) “But the LORD is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth quakes, And the nations cannot endure His indignation” (Jeremiah 10:10) Let us pray for our nation, for who knows how long the Lord will put up with us.
