This Will Turn Out
by Terry Wane Benton
"For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:19).
He had a mob of angry Jews trying to kill him in Jerusalem and in route to Caesarea, was kept in prison at Caesarea for two years, suffered a storm, shipwreck, and snake bite on his way to Rome, was confined in Roman custody for several years, and yet, despite all this drama and negativity, Paul was thinking of how all this would “turn out.” In the midst of his hardships, he had the “supply of the Spirit.” It was this supply that kept him positive and singing in prison at Philippi and would be his recourse for joy in prison at Rome.
I think we learn from Paul to have a “this will turn out” attitude in our circumstances and keep that attitude supported and sustained by constantly dipping into the supply of the Spirit, His powerful, spirit-building word when we feel the spiritual energy leaving our hearts. Things turn out a lot better when we do and think like our beloved brother Paul. This will turn out to be salvation!
