Is it wrong to have a job that encourages others to sin?
Question:
Is it wrong to have a job where you are not sinning yourself but may be causing someone else to sin?
Answer:
"Who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them" (Romans 1:32).
One does not have to practice a sin to be guilty of sin. Showing approval or giving a sinner encouragement to sin is just as sinful. This is a sin God complained the Israelites were involved. "But to the wicked God says: 'What right have you to declare My statutes, or take My covenant in your mouth, seeing you hate instruction and cast My words behind you? When you saw a thief, you consented with him, and have been a partaker with adulterers'" (Psalm 50:16-18).
This too is why Paul warned Timothy not to create close friendships with wicked people. "Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure" (I Timothy 5:22). John gives the same warning in II John 11.
