Do parents get sad when their children hit puberty?

Question:

Do parents get sad when their kids hit puberty? I’ve seen a lot of parents get sad when their little boy hits puberty.

Answer:

The early years of a child's life are rough on most parents. Caring for a baby takes a lot of time and energy. But soon the child is able to do many things for himself and the stress on the parents decrease. Life settles into a rhythm and you get comfortable with your role as a parent.

However, puberty doesn't just change the child, it also changes the relationship. The child becomes moody and independent. The parents know that it won't be long before the child leaves home. It is a bit sad to leave what you are familiar with behind, even though you are expecting it to happen.
