Can Christians practice birth control?

I am pleased with the quality of the material I read here. I worship with a church of Christ. I have a question: Can Christians practice birth control? Which method do you recommend? I need urgent answers.
Answer:
I'm assuming you are married. If you are not the only acceptable practice is to abstain from sex until marriage. Within marriage, there are numerous options that are acceptable to Christians. See "Contraceptives" for details.
