Should I convert to marry my Muslim boyfriend?

Question:

I am in my later twenties. I have a problem. I was born a Christian. My boyfriend is a Muslim. we've dated for almost 4 years now. We are at the level that we should get married now. My parents don't like him and they wanted us to break up. And his parents stated clearly that there is no other way for us to get married unless I am willing to convert to their religion. What should I do? I love him so much until at some point I am willing to follow his religion so we can get married, but I don't want to hurt my parents' feelings. It feels like I have to choose between my parents and my boyfriend.

What should I do?

Answer:

No one is born a Christian. You might have been born to Christian parents, but one chooses to become a Christian.

What I find sad is that there is not a trace of belief in God. You appear to treat religion as a club. It really doesn't matter if you please your parents or your boyfriend because unless you please your Creator, the moments in this world won't matter. "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day" (John 12:48).

"If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple" (Luke 14:26-27).
