Will Life Ever Be Good Again?

by Zeke Flores

Sometimes, it may seem like nothing will ever be right in your life again. You might look back to happier times and wonder how things could so completely fall apart. Beaten down by circumstances, maybe even the consequences of your own bad decision, you become overwhelmed with despair. Will life ever be good again?

Lamentations describes the situation after Jerusalem was overtaken by her enemies. In the book, Jeremiah confesses God’s sovereignty and justice but also recognizes the rejection and hopelessness around him. So, he cries out, "Why do You forget us forever? Why do You forsake us so long?" (Lamentations 5:20).

But in the book, the weeping prophet also recognized God’s mercy and His promise to restore. Because he looked ahead to God’s promise of deliverance, he could cling to hope, even when all seemed hopeless.

So can you.

Whatever you’re going through, no matter what the source of trouble is, Jesus understands. He comforts, He helps, and He promises that things will be right again. Just as Jeremiah looked forward to renewal and restoration, so can you.

"Restore us to You, O Yahweh, that we may be restored; renew our days as of old" (Lamentations 5:21).
