What prophet objected to anointing a wicked man as king but was told to do it anyway?

Question:

Good day. Can you please give me the name of the prophet who cried to the Lord not to let him anoint a man king because he was a wicked man but the Lord instructed him to do it anyway. Please let me have the book, chapter and verse this relates to.

Thank you, and may God bless you.

Answer:

I can't think of a situation as you described. The closest is when Elisha was told to anoint Hazael as king of Aram. The commission was originally given to Elijah (I Kings 19:15-17), but it was later carried out by Elisha.

"Hazael said, "Why does my lord weep?" Then he answered, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the sons of Israel: their strongholds you will set on fire, and their young men you will kill with the sword, and their little ones you will dash in pieces, and their women with child you will rip up." Then Hazael said, "But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?" And Elisha answered, "The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Aram"" (II Kings 8:12-13).

Response:

Thank you, Jeffrey Hamilton. You are correct as always. This is exactly what I was asking for. May the Lord continue to bless you with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
