We’ve been living together for years, how can we stop committing fornication?

Question:

Hello,

I got pregnant at the age of 17, I am now 21 and am still with the father of my baby. I've always gone to church since I was young but about a few months ago I realized that I needed to take my life more serious and also realized that I'm committing a huge sin by not being married but still having sex. I've been going to church consistently for about a month and doing Bible studies with my pastor and he said the best thing to do according to the Bible was stop having sex with my partner until we get married. It's just so hard since we have a son and have also been living together for years. My partner doesn't seem to understand we are committing a sin, and I just don't know what to do because I want to get my life together especially with God. What is your opinion?

Answer:

"But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is good for them if they remain even as I am; but if they cannot exercise self-control, let them marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion" (I Corinthians 7:8-9).

If abstaining from sex is not an option, then get married. In most places, you can get married within a day of deciding that is what you need to do. The only one making this hard is yourself.

Response:

Thank you.
