Trust in God

by Zeke Flores

The Bible's story boils down to one simple truth: Trust God, and He will save you.

Throughout the Bible story, whether it was Abraham upending his life at God's command, the Israelites crossing a harsh desert, prophets proclaiming an unpopular message, or scared citizens facing a brutal invader, the message is the same: trust God and be saved.

On the outset, it seems like a reasonable objective, after all, who wouldn't want to have confidence in a Higher Power that promises safety? But, when you're staring at a long expanse of wilderness, an enemy soldier with a ready sword, or a life change that promises significant stress, trust in God might be hard to do. Yet, the message stays the same.

Of course, we need to be saved from something more harrowing than life's issues; we need to be saved from sin and its forever consequences. As with the most important rescue, if we trust God in our lives, marriages, families, jobs, and churches, He will save us.

What does that look like? Simply put, it's having confidence that doing things His way, even when it seems impossible, is not only the right way, it's the only way.

"I will certainly save you. You will not fall victim to violence. You will escape with your life because you trust in me. I, Yahweh, affirm it!" (Jeremiah 39:18).
