True Riches

by Terry Wane Benton

In Luke 16:11, Jesus speaks of "true riches" as opposed to the world's material riches. True riches are the real riches. We've known many of those millionaires who were poor and miserable on the inside. They don't have "true riches." True riches are things inside that make you content, thankful, happy, fulfilled, full of love, good fruits, hope, and peace in Christ. When you can be at peace with God, have a clear conscience, have a great purpose full of hope of a great future, and have great values inside, the greatest being knowing Christ and the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:8-12), you can be materially poor but full of "true riches." The poor in spirit can come to know Jesus and find great riches, "the unsearchable riches of Christ." (Ephesians 3:8).

What a tremendous treasure chest of marvelous things to keep on discovering as we keep searching and mining the "unsearchable" riches of Christ! Don't get too distracted with worldly things. Choose the good part, discovering more of the true riches in Christ.
