Thank you for all the encouragement and support you’ve given me

Question:

Hey,

Like always, thanks for encouraging and providing support to me. I wanted to share with you good news, I forget the verse that talks about sharing with the person who teaches or leads you.

The other day I met with the housekeeping manager at the hotel. He wanted to know what the Bible said about homosexuality, his way of living, and if he is going to hell. As you can guess, he is homosexual. He and I went out to a coffee shop and talked for an hour and a half. He said he wants to repent and hopefully, he will. He doesn't want to burn in hell, but sin is so hard to get out of. I offered help and told him that I have friends who can help him get through any of this but the choice is up to him. He is raised Catholic, so he believes God's Word is the only way but doesn't know much about Catholic beliefs. After talking about what truth is, that God is the only truth, what it means to love and follow God, what sin is and what it does to our relationship with God, and also how Christ died to make it possible for us to reconcile. Then at the very end, we moved to what the Bible says about homosexuality. I used your page on the different types of homosexuality (thank you for that). He said it enlightened him and he now has a clear answer where before he did not. He told me he knows he needs to repent but is not sure if he will. I again offered help, but he would have to make the choice; I can't force him.

Anyway, it went really well. The other guy I am teaching is wanting to get baptized, but he is in another country. Perhaps when he leaves for a while. There are some minor issues of why he wants to get baptized to be worked out before it happens, but pray he gets understanding. God has blessed my wife and me recently with touching people's lives. I want you to know if it wasn't for you challenging me and growing me into the man of God I am now, I would not be as effective as I could be and to reach out as much as I have to help people.

Thank you so much again. Just thought I'd share some happy news with you!

Answer:

I really enjoyed your note and I'm touched. The verse you were wanting by the way is "Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches" (Galatians 6:6). Good news like this keeps me going as well. This is how the gospel is spread. "And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (II Timothy 2:2).
