Serving the Church
by Zeke Flores
In any local church, there are dual needs that must be met.
The physical requirements of operating a local church must be taken care of because, after all, we are flesh and blood people with material needs to carry out the Lord’s work. Then, and most importantly, there are the spiritual needs we share that center and revolve around the word of God.
Men in local churches must attend to both these needs. But even those men in local churches who serve the physical needs of their brethren must be spiritually minded men, "full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom."
It's an important reminder that even mundane, everyday physical tasks have a spiritual importance. I’m grateful for the deacons who serve in our local church. Thank God for men who step up and serve their brethren!
"Therefore, brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task" (Acts 6:3).
