Must a man and woman face each other during sex?

Question:

What does the Bible say about the man and woman facing each other during sex?

Answer:

To be sure we are on the same page, the Bible specifies that sex is to be limited to a husband and wife. "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge" (Hebrews 13:4). The Greek word, nicely translated as "bed" in this passage refers to the act of sexual intercourse. "Fornication" is any sexual activity that takes place outside the bonds of a marriage covenant. "Adultery" is a sexual activity with someone who is not your spouse.

Sexual positions are not directly mentioned in the Scriptures. Obviously, though, from the way men and women are physically made the most common or natural position is one where the husband and wife face each other. However, there is no reason to conclude that it must be limited to that position.

"Make haste, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices" (Song of Solomon 8:14).
