Is this girl the answer to my prayers?

Question:

I met the girl online, and we have been talking online for several months now, We haven't actually met in person but we plan on meeting up next week. We are both Christian, and we have had a few differences of opinion, and arguments. I literally fell in love with this girl before I've even met her, and no matter how much we argue, she always comes back or things always sort themselves out in the end between us. It is as if we are meant for each other or something. The funny thing is, a few months ago, before I met her, I would pray every single night for someone to come along into my life for me to love forever and to be with, and for them to actually respect me and love me back. And now, all of a sudden this girl comes along who is almost exactly the same as me, she has very similar tastes and characteristics to me, and she never quits wanting to be my friend and meet me all of a sudden. I think the Lord has sent me this girl, and I wanted to ask if this was possible? I believe that it is, but I just want to ask someone who knows more than me, if it could be true? When I pray each night now, I ask the Lord to forgive me for my sins and to bless me with eternal happiness with this girl, and it seems that she and I are getting closer and closer. Could this be possible?

Answer:

Now how am I to take it that you've met a girl exactly like you, with whom you have differences of opinion and argue? Most people don't have trouble agreeing with themselves. You're positive she'll love you forever, even though you've not met her in person.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad you've found someone. I hope that it works out well. But at the moment you are infatuated. Your relationship is based on what you imagine things will be like. Take time to get to know her. Give her time to get to know you. There is no reason you both can't spend six months to a year getting to really know each other.

Whether God has answered your prayers, such does happen; whether this is an answer to your prayers, I do not know. What I can tell you is that you must still treat her well and win her heart, just like any other man. Your obligations to live by God's principles don't change. You still need to prove yourself to be good quality husband-material and the man of her dreams.

"I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles or by the does of the field, do not stir up nor awaken love until it pleases" (Song of Solomon 2:7).
