If HOW We Worship Doesn’t Matter …

by Terry Wane Benton

  • Then it should not have mattered that Cain brought a different offering from Abel as long as he brought something (See Genesis 4).
  • Then it should not have mattered what source of fire that Nadab and Abihu used as long as it was in their heart to offer God something (See Leviticus 10).
  • Then it should not have mattered that the Corinthian church changed the Lord's Supper a little bit (I Corinthians 11:17ff) since they were doing something for God. How they went about doing something for God should not have mattered.

But, God is looking for people to worship Him "in spirit and truth" (John 4:21-24). Thus, Jesus said it matters to God how we worship Him. Therefore, we must study His Word, the truth, and determine what He wants us to do and do that, and do it with a sincere and reverent spirit. God is seeking people who will do things His way. It matters now and eternally!
