I got baptized for selfish reasons. Do I need to get baptized again?

Question:

I was baptized according to the Bible when I was 14. I'm now 20 years old. I have been faithful in the church. However, recently I have been questioning the motive behind my baptism. Now that I look back I knew Jesus had died on the cross for my sins and that when I was baptized my sins were being washed away. However, during the time of my baptism, all I could think about was.  "I'm going to go to heaven." Was that the wrong motive? Looking back it seems selfish. Should I be re-baptized?

Answer:

All of us grow and we realize that what God commands is more than we realize. To be baptized because you wanted the hope of heaven is not wrong. After all, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Hebrews 11:6).
