I am Muslim and want to be a Christian, but I’m afraid my father will kill me

Question:

Hello,

I am a Muslim from an Islamic country. I want to convert to Christianity, but I will face some problems. I am 17 years old. My father is a leader. If he knows what I'm thinking about, he may kill me. So what should I do? Most of the people in our country are Muslims, so I will be hated by all of them. I will be treated very badly because in the Qu'ran it's written that anyone who wants to leave Islam, you must kill him, so I don't know what should I do!

Please help me.

Answer:

"If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple" (Luke 14:26-27).

When people go with the flow, there is no resistance. It is those who see that the flow is going the wrong way and take a stand who encounter the greatest difficulties.

I don't know your heart, so this will have to be a decision that you have to make. Is being a Christian worth giving up your old family to gain a new one? "So He said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life"" (Luke 18:29-30). If you are willing to do this, then I would suggest seeking to attend college in a country where there is some freedom in religion. From there you can convert and apply for residency. If nothing else, the distance will let your family cool down, even if they won't accept your decision.

Let me know where you go and I'll see if I can find Christians in that area to help you.
