How Has Satan Been Cast Out?

by Terry Wane Benton

"Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out" (John 12:31).

When Jesus died for our sins, it cast out Satan’s power to keep us accused of sin and thereby condemned with him. His accusations don’t stand where remission of sins has been given. (Revelation 12:11f). So, God rendered a judgment at the cross. It thereby cast out Satan and his power of holding the death sentence accusation.

By rising from the dead, Jesus showed His power over death of any kind, physical or spiritual. Satan does not hold that same power. Satan is cast out by Jesus, showing who is really in charge of death. Satan was the bully on the block, but Jesus sent him running!

The world was given a new judgment:

  1. Keep losing with Satan needlessly, or
  2. Choose to win with Jesus.

You don’t need to allow the evil bully to keep you under his influence and power. Jesus took care of the bully, and now if you hang around Jesus, the bully will leave you alone. Jesus stood up for me, and now I will stand up with Him.

Which side are you on? The winning side or the losing side?
