How do we make a stand against homosexuality?

Question:

Hello!

First, I would like to say thanks for the website.

My question is: how can we show others that homosexuality is wrong?  Our country will not hear any religious claims that marriage between two of the same sex is wrong.  I know we are to love everyone, but how do we show that we do not approve of same-sex marriage?  Because if we ever do say anything they claim that we are judging them or that God asked us to love them. Many people say on a Facebook post that same-sex marriage is right, and if we don't have any non-religious reasons to argue, then it's pointless to argue about it.  Are we supposed to just let laws like these pass?  I've read in the Bible that a nation will be judged on its laws or something like that.  How can we as a country fight against these awful laws?

Your answer is very much appreciated!

Answer:

One of the facts about God's laws is that they are good for people. As Moses told Israel, "And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the LORD and His statutes which I command you today for your good?" (Deuteronomy 10:12-13). Therefore, it is possible to argue that God's laws make sense even from a common-sense point of view. As an example, see: Don't you dare change my mind, but why is homosexuality bad?

Yes, people argue that any disagreement is a judgment against them. The argument, however, fails because the argument itself is a judgment. By its own terms, it is wrong; therefore, it is a logical fallacy.

Yes, we love people. It is because I love them that I don't want them to make foolish choices that will harm them in this life and the life to come. It is the unloving person who lets another come to harm without saying or doing anything.

The way to change things is to be unafraid to stand up for the truth and explain why. "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear" (I Peter 3:15). You and I teach everyone around us the truth and pray that a ripple effect occurs.

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe" (I Corinthians 1:18-21).
