How do I move on?

Question:

Please help me. I was wondering if you could help me out I been with my partner for over five years. We are both near thirty. That time has been a real long journey. The problem is I feel like our love is burnt. He changed into a total jerk -- looking up porn, girls, etc.

Lately, he has been texting this girl constantly day and night. Every time when I text or reply he takes ages to get back to me but when it comes to her, he texts her back instantly. She's married with a kid. I questioned him a couple of weeks ago. "What are you guys talking about?" He says, "We just talking about dogs." Seriously, who texts about dogs 10 hours a day?

He doesn't show much affection to me --only when he wants sex. He's arrogant and he puts me down all the time, and he doesn't understand I have feelings as well. He promises and says this and that, but it never happens.

I'm getting old. I want to be and feel happy in life, but he makes me miserable. We both have differences in what we like. He likes games computers. I like to travel and spend time with family.

He recently bought a dog. She sleeps on the bed even when we having sex. She goes everywhere we go. What happened to our date night? I crave attention. What girl wouldn't want attention from her man? We got an on-and-off relationship and it's so unhealthy. Problem is, I still love him. The sad thing is he broke up with me again via a text message. I want you to advise me on how do I move on and not look back. Is this possible? It's killing me.

Answer:

The situation is of your own making. You flaunted God's teaching, deciding you would rather have sex and a pretend marriage with a guy who is only interested in sex instead of holding out for a real man. Of course, it crumbled. It had no foundation.

"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God" (I Corinthians 6:9-10).

You haven't gone anywhere. You are still single, unmarried, and separated from God because of your sins. The way to move on is to get right with your Lord.
