How do I find peace when I’m reminded that another woman stole my husband away?

Question:

Every holiday season my former spouse's wife sends holiday greeting cards to my daughter.  I don't understand why she feels the need to send photos of my former spouse and herself (along with their toddler) to her. I put the greeting cards up and display them, for it is my daughter's father and her sister. But it does hurt me. I do get upset, basically shedding a few tears, when I see them together. I feel that she took away something that didn't belong to her, and she's having a wonderful life with him. Am I reading too much into this? I'm sure she doesn't care about my feelings, and she's trying to be nice and to make Abby feel included. How can I find peace about this?

Answer:

"If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable" (I Corinthians 15:19).

"By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward" (Hebrews 11:24-26).

As the writer of Psalms 73 noted, it looks like the wicked are having a good time -- up until you realize they are being set up for a great fall. Don't be envious of those who are taking the greased slope to destruction. Have pity that they are blinded to the truth because of their focus on this life.
