Eternal Life: Imagine
by Terry Wane Benton
Jesus brought immortality to light and made it real by demonstrating His resurrection from the dead. Now we know that eternal life is real. The prophetic word spoke of it, and then Jesus confirmed it; the eyewitnesses verified it. It is not a matter of blind faith or pie-in-the-sky wishful thinking. It is a fact, reality, and beyond a reasonable doubt. Jesus is our proof, and the proof is absolutely powerful!
Having such a hope, which is "confident expectation", how will it be to be changed from mortal to immortal? A body that is not subject to pain or death is hard to imagine, but it is exciting to think about and anticipate.
"For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee" (II Corinthians 5:1-5 NKJV).
Guaranteed by God who did not lie and cannot lie. He promised the Messiah, Jesus, and kept those many amazing promises, and He promises His servants eternal life, and it is as certain as the sun rises and sets. There will be a glorious day for us. I want to be ready for that glorious, victorious moment.
Today is one step closer. Today, we must ensure our faith commitment is strong and pure. Today, we focus, cleanse, and prepare. The moment of stepping over that threshold into immortality is nearer than ever before. Imagine stepping across that threshold today!
Are you ready?
