Due to circumstances we never had sex after our wedding. Does this mean we are not married?

After our wedding ceremony, we did not have had a chance to have sexual intercourse during our honeymoon due to some circumstances that could not be avoided. Also, we only had less than a week to be together during our honeymoon because he needed to go back home right away to his country because of his visa. Lately, he sent me an email, and, aside from other reasons, he told me that we should get a divorce because our marriage was not even consummated because we never had sex. He said that he feels like our marriage never really happened. So my question was, is it true that our marriage never really happened because we had no sex during our honeymoon? Did our marriage never really happened in the eyes of God too because we had no sex during our honeymoon? Does Jesus hate divorce?

Marriage is created by making vows before God. "... she is your companion And your wife by covenant" (Malachi 2:14). Sex is what takes place after marriage. Judah gives us an example: "And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he married her and went in to her" (Genesis 38:2). There is a distinct timeline being given: 1) Judah met Shua, 2) Judah married Shua, 3) Judah had sex with Shua. The function of the word "and" is to show the sequence of action. Therefore, his contention that your marriage was not real is false. Nor would it even stand up in secular courts. The marriage was recorded. If he married again, he would be considered bigamous in most countries.
Also in the book of Malachi, we read: " "For the LORD God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one's garment with violence," says the LORD of hosts. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously" " (Malachi 2:16). Jesus is a part of the Godhead (Colossians 2:9), so, yes, Jesus also hates divorce.
