Do parents have a responsibility to let adult children, living in sin, live in their home?

Question:

Do parents of adult children still living at home, who were raised with the Truth, been baptized into Christ but have now turned their backs on the Lord and the church by choosing a sinful lifestyle, have the responsibility to put these adult children out of their homes? Or withdraw from them?

Answer:

Since they are adults, a parent's obligation to support their adult children is at an end. Supporting them while they are living in sin is supporting the sin. "I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner -- not even to eat with such a person" (I Corinthians 5:9-11).
