Can I remarry?
Question:
Can I get remarried? In my previous marriage, there was a time when due to certain circumstances we were living in two different states for a couple of months. When I returned home, I arrived early in the morning. He wasn't expecting me until later, and I found him in bed with another woman. We have since divorced. We have been divorced now for several years. At that time I have started dating a man and we have been together now for a few years. In that time I have returned to God. But now comes my problem, we want to get married, to live honestly in the sight of God, but am I able to re-marry in the eyes of God?
Answer:
"And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery" (Matthew 19:9).
You divorced your husband because of his fornication. While he does not have the right to remarry because of his sin, you are allowed to get remarried if you so chose.
