Can I have sex with my ex-husband before our reconciliation?

Question:

My husband divorced me, but not for biblical reasons. We are working on restoration. Neither of us has had an adulterous relationship. My question is can we have a sexual relationship before remarrying each other through the court?

Answer:

"Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife" (I Corinthians 7:10-11).

The fact is that at the moment you are unmarried. Your husband was wrong to leave you, but at least you are working out your problems. But until you are reconciled (re-married), you aren't married. You have intentions of getting married again, but that is currently not the case.

Think of sex after remarriage as an extra incentive toward getting your issues resolved in a timely fashion.
