Assurance in the Heart

by Terry Wane Benton

Christians have some great things in their hearts that others lack but need. First, we have confidence that if we die, we are in a good place. We have a covenant with the Creator and Judge, and Jesus is the surety of the best covenant ever (Hebrews 7:12, 25). This covenant provides us with "full assurance of hope"(Hebrews 6:11, 18). Full assurance is much better than no assurance or even a half-hearted partial hope.

We have a great High Priest who has offered the unspeakable gift of love and sacrifice and gives us unsearchable riches to explore and enjoy in our hearts. He is always in the position to "help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16).

Need forgiveness? Our High Priest is in the best position, ready to provide for that need. Need inward strength? His word is "able to build you up and give you an inheritance among those who are set apart to Him" (Acts 20:32).

Need a better perspective for living productively? He supplies all your needs. He gives all the reasons to have confidence and expect a great reward for your labors of faith, hope, and love.

Have you entered with Him into this new and better covenant?
