Am I being unloving toward a sister in Christ?
Question:
Today I had some trouble with a friend, who is also a sister in Christ. She was unbearable, but still, I didn’t argue or anything with her. I just don’t feel like being near her because it stresses me. Am I being unloving to her?
Answer:
So what do you do when your brother or sister, mom or dad, really get on your nerves? Most of us back off, let our nerves settle down, and then find a way to work together because after all, they are family. In I Corinthians 13:4-8, the points made are things that come into play when things go wrong. We don't need patience when we are getting along with someone. It is when a person gets on your nerves that you need patience -- love is patient.
"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful" (Colossians 3:12-15).
