Just the Hem
by Terry Wane Bentom

Bleeding woman desired to touch Jesus' garment (Matthew 9:21)
She had spent many years going to different doctors trying to find a cure for her issue of blood. It had plagued her life so much. But she had a wonderful opportunity when the Man who miraculously healed so many others came into her vicinity.
She thought, "If I can just get through the crowd and get close enough to just touch the hem of His garment, I can be made whole." She would not be denied this opportunity. As the crowds were pushing around Him, she reached and touched Jesus as He came by. Her life would never be the same again. It was faith driving her to move into position and reach through at just the right moment. Just the hem would be enough! The most wonderful thing happened as a result. He healed her (Matthew 9:19-22).
I have thought about that from another angle. If I can just get close enough to Jesus, it would heal my guilt and hopelessness. It would give me a new life, a better life, and it would heal my soul, spirit, and heart, eventually giving me a new, immortal body.
It would help the plague of worry, fear, and anxiety. Just the hem of His garment would be enough. In our assemblies with the church, we are gathering to encourage, worship, and reach out to grasp just a little more from Him.
The preacher is hoping too that he can but touch the hem of Jesus' garment. We are not worthy to unloose His sandals. Still, if we can just touch the hem of His garment in expounding about Him, it might heal a broken heart, open spiritually blind eyes, give people a better walk, enlighten the soul, and give hope of eternal life to lost and hopeless souls.
Just the hem of the Glorious Savior's garment of love and holiness! Just the hem and lives can be made much better! Jesus will be there in the assembly in spirit, saying, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well!" And we will be there to hear Him! What a grand opportunity!
