Can I give on Sunday instead of Wednesday as my church leaders want?

Question:

Dear sir,

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ!

Am I not unified with the church if I contribute to the church on Sunday instead of Wednesday during our midweek devotional? Our church leader wants us to give our contribution during our midweek devotional and not on Sunday, and he wants us to be unified on this. But I Corinthians 16:1-2 says they gave on the first day of the week. Is it OK to give the whole contribution for a month as soon as we receive our salary to ensure we give first to the Lord’s church and not every week?

Thank you! I am so grateful for your heart and for what you do to clarify and correct errors through the Scriptures. May our Lord continue to guide you and give you wisdom.

Answer:

"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the churches of Galatia, so do you also. On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come" (I Corinthians 16:1-2).

Since this is a direct command to the Corinthians about how collections must be conducted, men are not allowed to change the details for their convenience. Attempting to create "unity" by opposing the Lord is not true unity (Colossians 3:17).
