What is wrong with the Baptists, Methodists, etc.?

Question:

I think my main concern is: "Is the Church of Christ the only way?" What is wrong with the Baptists, Methodists, etc...? Am I going in the right direction to get to Heaven? I know I have a lot of doubts and questions.

Answer:

The question, "Is the Church of Christ the only way?" treats the churches as a denomination and views them as the determiner of what is right or wrong. The church should uphold the truth for the world to view, but it is not the source of truth. "I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth" (I Timothy 3:15). The Bible is the truth. "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth" (John 17:17).

The question should always be whether the congregation I'm worshiping with is following the New Testament accurately and helping me to live in accordance with God's word. Only God determines what is right or wrong. "If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen" (I Peter 4:11).

The problem I have with the denominations is that they don't follow the Bible completely. All are organized differently than what you find in the Bible. Many don't partake of the Lord's Supper weekly as the early disciples did. Most use instrumental music in worship even though God didn't authorize it in His worship. If you don't know the difference between the church and various denominations, then you should take time comparing what they teach and practice against what the Bible teaches.
