Your analysis of the Redeemed Christian Church of God is amusing

Question:

I read your post on The Redeemed Christian Church of God, which I happen to be a member for the last 16 years. Your analysis is very amusing, if half of what you said was true, then I wouldn't be in that church! I guess it's based on the information you have!

I don't know what parish you went to, but the write up is far from the truth! I am not saying RCCG is perfect, but I know that a good majority is looking for Jesus! At least I can say that about the overseer and my pastor!

Nevertheless, it's an interesting and amusing read!

Answer:

Like many people, you belong to a denomination not knowing what your denomination teaches. The information presented was collected from the denomination's web site and other neutral sources which were explaining the origin and teachings of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

I'm glad you recognize that the teachings they hold are incorrect. You also indicate that the various members of this particular denomination do not all teach a consistent message. But one suggestion for the future: if you wish to offer constructive criticism it would be useful for you to state what you found to be inaccurate and back it up with facts from your denomination's teachings. All I was able to conclude is that you don't believe what your church teaches and refuse to research it.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables" (II Timothy 4:3-4).

Question:

RCCG is not a denomination. I know what the RCCG teaches and they don't dedicate kids to the church! Where is your proof of that? Where are your neutral sources! Please provided the sources. Let's see the research!

Answer:

The list of beliefs came from the page titled "Our Fundamental Beliefs" on the Redeemed Christian Church of God's website.

The second entry from the bottom states:

DEDICATION OF CHILDREN
We believe that after a child is born on the 8th day, the parent should bring him\her unto the House of the Lord for dedication unto the Lord - 1 Sam. 1:22; Luke. 22:22-24; Matt. 19:13-15.

It is true that the Redeemed Christian Church does not refer to itself as a denomination, but I refer to it as one because it functions as a denomination. For example, it places the church organization as the authority, "Rebellion against Church Ministers is against the Will of God." It has an earthly headquarters as stated in "Our Vision/Mission." These are typical elements of a denomination where men are followed.

Note: I had links to this group's pages. They have since blocked cross-linking. Hopefully, you can still find the information.
