Will we see the Godhead as three beings or combined as Jesus?

Question:

Will we see the Trinity as three distinct persons in Heaven or will they all be combined as one in Jesus Christ our Saviour?  I know the Bible states that Jesus is sitting on the right hand of God but will we see God the Father and the Holy Spirit?

Answer:

In Revelation, there are word pictures given of heaven. "John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth" (Revelation 1:4-5). Notice that three are mentioned, but in different locations:

  • "Him who is and who was and who is to come" (The Father)
  • "the seven Spirits who are before His throne" (The Holy Spirit)
  • "Jesus Christ"

In Revelation 4, the Father is seen on the throne, the Holy Spirit is before the throne and then in Revelation 5, the lamb (Jesus) appears between the sea and the throne.

The imagery is that of three beings who together are God.
