Will I still be a mother in heaven?

Question:

Will I still be a mother in heaven? I know that we won’t be married in heaven and that we will have some recognition of others that are there with us, but if I am in heaven and so is my daughter will we still be mother and daughter?

Answer:

To be a mother means either the person who gave birth to another or the person who raised, cared for,  and taught another.

Physically, your body formed your child's body and you gave birth to your child. But you did not give your daughter her spirit. That she was given by God. "Remember Him before the silver cord is broken and the golden bowl is crushed, the pitcher by the well is shattered and the wheel at the cistern is crushed; then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it" (Ecclesiastes 12:6-7). In heaven, our spirits will be there, but not our bodies (II Corinthians 5:1-2).

When David's child died, he said, "Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me" (II Samuel 12:23). David realized that someday he would go to be with his child. I conclude you will know the spirit who is the daughter you raised and she will know you.
