Why did you leave out pictures from Treasures of the Bible?

Question:

Awesome black and white sketches from Treasures of the Bible. Why don't you have any Adam and Eve in the garden? That omission surprised me, maybe you chose to leave it out?

Answer:

The reason the Adam and Eve pictures were left out:

  • The picture showing Adam and Eve being driven from the garden has Adam dressed in a loincloth and Eve in what appears to be a leather skirt (poorly made) with no top. This doesn't match what the Bible says, "Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them" (Genesis 3:21). A tunic is a shirt that covers from shoulders to knees. Given that the clothes were designed by God, I would not expect a primitive look.
  • The picture of Adam tilling the ground again has Adam dressed in a loincloth. Eve is in a cloth dress, but one breast is bare, though a hand adroitly blocks the view, and she has two naked boys next to her, one with his genitals exposed.

The pictures were inaccurate and inappropriate, so they were left out along with several other pictures from this book.
