Where is hell?
Question:
Can you tell me what the Bible says about hell? Is it in the earth or is it a spiritual place like heaven? Can we find hell on earth? Is there an opening in the earth? People say that there is hell in the earth. Is that biblical?

Hell does not exist on or in the earth because at Jesus' second coming this earth will be destroyed. "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?" (II Peter 3:10-12). However, after this, there is the Judgment where people will be sent to Hell. "But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who "will render to each one according to his deeds": eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness -- indignation and wrath" (Romans 2:5-8).
