What Sort of People (DeLong)

In II Peter 3:10-12, Peter affirms that our destiny lies in new heavens and a new earth. The things of this present heavens and earth will pass away, be burned up, dissolved, melted. This new home will be the home for those who are holy and godly. Their lives are lived in sanctification, knowing they have been set aside to live their lives to the glory of God, and thus the point and emphasis of their lives is GOD. Whatever they do, think, or are engaged in is all done in order to glorify God.

Peter continued by instructing those who recognize this to be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless. This is a lifestyle, a lifestyle that is lived by choice. We will live with God for eternity, so we are to live to His glory now.
