What do I do? My husband is a drug addict

Question:

Dear sir,

I have a question about my marriage. My husband is addicted to drugs. I've been praying and trying so hard to get him to stop. He keeps promising and goes back to it. We live overseas and things are getting so hard for me, more than I can handle. We have a toddler, who really doesn't deserve a dad like him. Sometimes he loses control and locks us outside. He'll be locked in a room for days watching porn too.

Now I am planning to leave him because I am tired of his addiction. He is a super nice guy in everything but he lets the drug take over him. I am nearly 30 and he is in his 40's. What should I do? I am very young and my boy needs a father. I am so confused. I have been praying every single day for God to change him into the person He created him to be. Is this God's way of telling me to give up?

Please help me.

Answer:

Move back to where you are near family. Then your dad, brothers, or brothers-in-law can provide the male role model that your child needs in his life. Tell your husband that if he ever cleans up his life you'll consider taking him back (I Corinthians 7:10-11). What is not an option is marrying someone else because fornication is not the cause of this breakup.
