This has not been a good year for me. I need to regain my faith

Question:

Please pray with me. This year has not been good for me. I've had a terrible fight with my manager. I put her in an awkward place at work. I've bad-mouthed her and now at work, I've misused the money. I might lose the job. I have a two-year-old baby girl. I've started using my time in order to make my life go according to my will. Deep down in my heart, I always think of God, but I feel like the problems I have right now need quick answers, which made me go to traditional healers. But, hey, it's not me. I've lost my faith in God and I need prayers and a lot of biblical scriptures to regain my faith back.

Answer:

How is it that you list out numerous sinful things that you've done, and yet you manage to portray yourself as a victim? You were disrespectful to your employer when God said, "Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free" (Ephesians 6:5-8). You have been involved in backbiting and slander when God said through Paul, "For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults" (II Corinthians 12:20). And you stole from your employer. "Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need" (Ephesians 4:28). Of course, you might lose your job, you might also go to prison, and if it does happen, it is nothing less than what you earned by your behavior.

Your life is a train wreck about to happen and you seem to only have a vague notion as to how bad things are, mostly because you are starting to see the results of your choices. Thinking of God while throwing mud at His laws isn't going to help you. You have to make some radical changes immediately.

"Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"? But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up" (James 4:4-10).
