The Voice of Experience
by David Gibson
Bible Thought:
“O fear the LORD, you His saints; for to those who fear Him there is no want” (Psalm 34:9 NASB).
Among the Bible passages I recall my dad mentioning is David’s statement, “I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his descendants begging bread” (Psalm 37:25). David could say this from his long experience with God, and so could my dad. Now, as a septuagenarian, I can say the same.
The faithful Christian need not fear. Our faithful God takes good care of His faithful children. When we “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33), Jesus promises that our basic necessities will be met—guaranteed!
During economic uncertainty, rising inflation, and dire financial predictions, let’s remember David’s words. If we fear the Lord, we need not fear we will lack anything we truly need. God is not only our Creator, Redeemer, and Father but also our abundant Provider. Believing this with all our hearts, we can tell our children and grandchildren, as my dad told me, that from our own experience with God, we can testify that what David said is true and God is good.
Lord, help us to rely on Your promise that You will neither forsake us nor ever leave us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
