Persistent Awareness
by Zeke Flores
"Command the sons of Israel that they bring you clear oil ... to make a lamp burn continually" (Leviticus 24:2).
The lamp in the tabernacle was to burn continually. It symbolized God’s presence and Israel’s ongoing worship. The people supplied the oil, and the priests kept the flame alive.
There’s a picture here for us. God’s presence is constant, but our awareness of Him needs tending. Our spiritual flame doesn’t stay bright by accident. It grows through small, steady choices: prayer, Scripture, gratitude, and obedience. You don’t need dramatic moments to stay close to God; you just need consistency. A little oil each day.
If your spiritual flame feels dim, don’t be discouraged. Just add oil. One prayer. One verse. One moment of worship. Over time, the flame grows again.
God isn’t asking for perfection; He’s asking for present persistence.
