No Prophecy

by Carl A. Allen

Often, when I am reading at random, I come across a thought that is worthy of passing on. Some of these thoughts are for thinking, not just passing over. I believe this quote to be of that value.

"There are no prophecies for Buddha, Confucius, Muhammad or any other leader of the world's religions, whereas there are literally hundreds of prophecies establishing the truth concerning Jesus Christ."

As I think about this statement, I know of no prophecies concerning the coming of Confucius. As I think about this statement, I know of no prophecies concerning the coming of Mohammad. As I think about this statement, I know of no prophecies concerning the coming of Buddha.

I cannot turn to a book and read of their births prophesied; I cannot think of any prophecy anywhere that tells beforehand of their teachings in parables; I cannot find anywhere of acts and deeds, signs, wonders, and miracles being prophesied beforehand, of these men. There is no such information that can be turned to and looked at, about the future life and teachings of these men.

Now, when I turn to the one called Jesus I can find overwhelming material about his birth, life, teaching, death, etc. And a few of these listed below will help you to remember what the Bible has to say about this person before he came to the earth. In some cases, the information was delivered 2,000 years plus before he came to the earth.

Genesis 3:15, "and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." Consider Galatians 4:4, "but when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth his Son, born of a woman, born under the law." Matthew 12:29 says, "Or how can one enter into the house of the strong man, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man?" Hebrews 2:14 reminds us, "Since then the children are sharers in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same; that through death he
might bring to nought him that had the power of death, that is, the devil.
" These passages are the fulfillment of Genesis 3:15.

Genesis 22:18, "In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice." Galatians 3:16, "Now to Abraham were the promises spoken, and to his seed. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ." This promise was given to one by the name of Abraham and hundreds of years later it was fulfilled, and declared to be so in Christ!

Deuteronomy 18:15, "Jehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall harken." Acts 3:22, declares Jesus to be the fulfillment of Deuteronomy 18:15, "Moses indeed said, A prophet shall the Lord God raise up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me; to him shall ye harken in all things whatsoever he shall speak unto you." The context of Acts 3 shows this to have reference to Christ — spoken hundreds of years before he came. Moses, speaking by inspiration, was right and designated what was to happen in the future and it did happen, just like he said.

Isaiah 7:14, "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Several hundred years before Christ was born this prophecy was made; yet, the writer of the book of Matthew, Matthew, said he spoke of Christ. Matthew 1:22-23, "Now all this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, And they shall call his name Immanuel: which is, being interpreted, God with us." The writer of the book of Matthew states that this is the fulfillment of prophecy when he is "born of a virgin," and that his name would be called "Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us." It is amazing that Isaiah knew this! He really didn't. God caused him to write the material and it was not what Isaiah knew but what God knew.

Please take a look at the evidence and observe that there are prophecies given concerning the teaching of Christ, that he would be in the grave for three days and nights, that he would be crucified on another man's cross, that he would be buried in another man's tomb and we could go on and on about the many prophecies made many years before he came to the earth. Man does not have the ability to look into the future — God does!

Such evidence cannot be found concerning Buddha, Muhammad, or concerning Confucius; but there is abundant evidence concerning Jesus Christ, which proves Him to be the Son of God and the one in whom God has presented to be the Savior of the world (John 14:6).
