Making Reservations
by Terry Wane Benton
When we plan an important trip, we know it is important to make reservations. We have made some trips without good planning and spent time looking for hotels that were disasters. We cannot go to heaven by rejecting Jesus all of our lives, and then, just before we die, we want to make reservations for heaven through Him. If you do not want to yoke to Him now and learn from Him, you will not find rest now nor in the future land beyond. Now is the accepted time. Today is the day of salvation. To Christians who had been yoked to Jesus, Peter said there is an incorruptible inheritance "reserved" in heaven for you (I Peter 1:3-4).
What trip is more important to plan for than the plans for what is beyond this world? Since we know we are going to die, and we don't know when that will occur, we need to get our names in the Lamb's Book of Life. We need to do everything within our power to ensure we have reservations made in heaven. There are things God expects of us to get our names registered in heaven (II Peter 1:5-10). It is a totally wasted life that does not wisely learn the way to eternal life (Matthew 7:13f). Have you made reservations for heaven?
