Jesus Had Every Excuse and Reason, But …

by Perry Hall

  • If anyone was too busy, it was Jesus (Mark 1:29-34, 38-39, 1:40-42, 45; 2:1-2; etc.).
  • If there was anyone who could worship anywhere, it was Jesus (Mark 1:35; Luke 22:39).
  • If there was anyone better than those hypocrites, it was Jesus (Mark 1:23-26; 2:16; 3:2).
  • If there was anyone who, as a child, didn't need to go to the Synagogue, it was Jesus, and yet He did (Luke 4:16).

And yet Jesus attended Synagogue every Sabbath as an adult "as was his custom" (Luke 4:16).
So unless we are busier than Jesus, worship more than Jesus, are better than Jesus, and holier than Jesus from childhood to adulthood, shouldn't we, too, follow Jesus's example and make it our personal and family practice to be with God's people as a church every Sunday?

Jesus had every excuse and reason to miss but didn't. Where does this tell us to be when His church is assembling?
